2011
It’s been ok. Not great. Not horrendous. But ok.
A temp job means I’ve moved work locations 3 times and I spent most of my spare time on trains and buses going to and from Scotland, trying to hold on to the fantastic experiences that 2010 gave me. I’ve felt somewhat in limbo this year. I’ve not settled and nothing has been permanent.
I’m not expecting huge things...
I forgot how much maths was involved in sewing (especially when you aren’t starting with an actual pattern) I also made the mistake of going for a 2 print, geometric design for this bag I’m making.
Currently trying to recall the hypotenuse rule to work out measurements.
Someone shoot me now!
On the upside the African waxed fabrics I bought for it have glittery bits :)
I got an email from my old boss today and it made me so happy. I’ve not seen him since I finished work for college almost 2 and a half years ago, but he was really supportive when I was finishing work (lots of crap going on at the time) and I’m going to make sure I keep in touch, I just wish I was better at writing. Every time I sit down to write an email I lose the ability to put into...

I’m pretty confused… can friends of friends now see your profile no matter how much you lock it down?
I need to know as I’ve just discovered my Father has facebook, and there is no way I want him knowing about any aspect of my life, or my whereabouts. We currently have mutual friends (old colleagues of both of us) I don’t keep in touch with them and have no plans to again...
Tonight I’ve finally got round to editing some photos left over from bits and pieces. Pretty disappointed to find my Arcane Roots aren’t good at all, weirdly the photos that have come out best are of the drummer (first for everything I guess). The Dinosaur Pile Up photos have come out ok. Technically they are fine, just a bit boring really. But I find if I’m not enjoying a set...
Lost my prescription for glasses and currently trying to work out where I got them tested so I can get them to send me a copy.
“The opticians on the left at the end of Cameron Toll shopping centre in Edinburgh” doesn’t really help :/

I also treated myself to a skirt today. I’ve pretty much given up on attempting to find trousers that fit. A skirt has less parts of the body it needs to fit right. Still not 100% I like it but it’s comfy and it looks good with DM’s.
Went into Jumbo Records today in Leeds and Mum bought me the new WWPJ album for New Year. YASSSSSSS!!! :D
Just had a midnight feast of pigs in blankets and now to get some sleep before hitting the sales in Leeds tomorrow. Very much want some Levi jeans, but I’m going to hold back seeing as I also plan to get back into shape in the coming months. No way am I spending that sort of money on something only for them to not fit me in 6 months. In saying that I do need clothes… Here’s...

Best Scottish Music Photo of 2011 competition →
I’ve just entered this competition. I know the photos I’ve entered are not winning material (mostly because of the type of photos the judge prefers) but they are favourites of mine, and that’s more important to me.
If you take photos of gigs in Scotland then you should enter too. As far as I know you don’t have to live in Scotland to take part, as long as the photos were...
I acquired what can only be described as a Christmas… sombrero the other night.
Can’t quite find anywhere to tidy it away to. It won’t fit anywhere!
Secret Santa.
We did the whole handing out of gifts today. I thought we were supposed to buy a gift for a fiver and if we really struggled go over a bit.
Everyone seemed to have bought nice bottles of alcohol… as part of the gift. Most people must’ve spent at least a tenner.
I got my recipient a diy gingerbread house kit, a christmas cupcake kit and assorted mini choccies (Lindt teddy bears, Aero...
Christmas peaked too soon.
The last weekend has been fantastic, and festive and snowy.
Now I’m feeling low. The weather is horrid. Got anxiety. No appetite. Exhausted and hating work so much.
I also have no little trips planned to be able to look forward too.

Noticed that all my friends give beautifully wrapped presents. Matching gift tags, bows, the lot. They look too pretty to unrap!
Me…a total mish mash of various papers, gift tags, stickers etc. If you’re really lucky you’ll get a gift bag. And again that’ll match nothing.
But despite my messy presentation everyones gifts, even though very small little token gifts, have...

Only camera I used yesterday was the disposable. Going to be ages before I can get those developed as I’ve just started that camera. Still It’ll be fun in a couple of months time to get the photos, by which time I’ll have forgotten what’s even on it :)
Pretty sure I got one of Martin jumping off the amps though.
So. Tired.
Got 4 hours sleep on Thurs night. Travelled up to Glasgow. Saw friends, watched Arthur Christmas (highly recommend) and went to the LightGuides Christmas Party, which was lots of fun and the longest I’ve seen them play. Acquired a… christmas hat that resembled a sombrero. Stayed up all night. Got on the 04:36 train.
Points failure at Carstairs.
Cancelled train.
7 and a half hours to...
Disorganised as ever. I’m up super early in the morning for the train to Glasgow. I have not yet worked out what clothes I shall be wearing or washed my hair or anything really.
What I have done however is drink mulled wine, watch Miracle on 34th St and establish that I’m going to see Arthur Christmas with Susie (and whoever wishes to join us) tomorrow, at Cineworld.
I was also...

dir-and-dist replied to your post: “No Entry without Christmas Jumper or Elf Costume or Candy Canes for bands.”
That sounds like the greatest Christmas party ever
There will certainly be a lot of fun had. It will no doubt be a very drunken night. There are some videos on youtube of the past 2 Christmas gigs I think.
"No Entry without Christmas Jumper or Elf Costume...
Far too excited for the annual LightGuides Christmas Party gig.
Got home to an insane amount of views on Flickr and re-blogs on here from the photos I uploaded last night. Very happy.
I’ll stop spamming photos now. ‘Bout time I got to bed.

Photo editing finished :D Now to upload and share!

I used it over the Xcerts/TBS photos and I hardly got anything from it, so I sort of panicked. Felt like it made my camera run slower. I may try it again next time and see though. That photo really is great! Love action shots. Well done! :D
If you use high speed CF cards you should be fine.
ithinkijustneededarush replied to your photo: Before and after. Sometimes my camera amazes me….
Okay… Maybe I really should be using RAW then. So many of my shots were blown out and I just couldn’t get anything from them. This photo is amazing!
Certainly nothing to lose by trying it :) And thank you… I actually rather like it myself and that’s really rare!

I swear I have the grainiest camera :( Embarrased at how bad this set of photos are right now. Think I can hide them from the band? Maybe they’ll forget I was there?
Now back home after a lovely weekend. It was all sorts of fantastic and I’m too tired to write a proper post (not to mention having photos to edit) so here it is (well, bits) in bullet point fashion;
Felt sad that Nicola couldn’t make it. :’(

I’m not sure 3 jd and cokes in an hour was wise. Damn free alcohol, hehe! So yeah… Twin followed by their dj set. I generally don’t do clubs… Can’t hear myself think. Had fun though.
Just started packing for tomorrow. Getting up at 05:30. Urghhhh!
lettheflamesbeginx replied to your photo: My calendar is better than yours. Fact.
who is that and why does it look a lot like lightguides?!
It is LightGuides :D My friend Fiona photographs live music and each year she gets calendars printed up. My Christmas card from her last year was another photo from this gig (their Xmas ‘09 gig) The calendar had all sorts of bands on it. It’s...
